Subject: Looking for YEA! NAWBO/EXCEL Detroit’s Next Top Young Entrepreneurs!

Do you know a middle or high school young lady between the ages of 11 and 18, who has a great idea, passion, talent, skill, or is interested in starting their own business? If so, the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), a program of NAWBO/EXCEL the 501(c)3 foundation of the National Association of Women Business Owners Greater Detroit Chapter, is here to help them get their ideas off the ground and into motion!

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy is a 30-week program that teaches students how to start and run their own, REAL businesses. Students brainstorm business ideas, write a business plan, pitch their plan to investors for funding at a “Shark Tank” like Investor Panel Event, and launch their own business or social movement.  All the learning is real and experiential. Students leave the class as business owners, complete with a DBA and bank account!

YEA!, hosted at Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business is excited to announce that they are currently accepting nominations and applications for the 2017-18 academic year. YEA! is held once a week on Thursday from 5-8 p.m., beginning in October and ending in May.

The application process is competitive and spots are filling up fast! Applications are reviewed and students are accepted on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to apply before the March 31early application deadline. All other applications will be accepted before July 1, 2017.
